performing arts

Performing Arts at HOPAC is an intrinsic part of campus life consisting of both the Drama and Music Programme.  At HOPAC the focus is on development of the imagination and creative thinking processes, for the glory of God.

We emphasize how the performing arts connect with other subjects. We also give students an opportunity to explore their creativity and express themselves—both artistically and intellectually. We aspire that the experiences in the Performing Arts at HOPAC will prepare students to be strong, creative, confident leaders in the future.

Primary and Middle School have classes in both Music and Drama. Our Senior School students have the option of being involved in School Productions, the Worship Band and other extra curricular activities.

As part of the school year, Primary put on the Christmas production at the end of term 1 and Middle School tend to be involved with the Easter Service.

Aside from these productions, HOPAC also puts on a literary play, a musical and a talent show. The cast and crew for each of these often include students of all ages and sometimes staff.

Productions that we have done include:

Productions

  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Lion King
  • Hamlet
  • The Tempest
  • A Midsummer Night’s Dream
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe
  • The Sound of Music
  • The Princess Bride
  • Sarafina
  • Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
  • Mary Poppins

By participating in the performing arts at HOPAC, students are able to think independently, participate in stage productions and concerts in and outside of school, work collaboratively and have the confidence to speak freely in public or in front of an audience.

Students enjoy the Performing Arts because it is an arena where they can express themselves creatively, not confined to their desks; they can assume different roles and characters; and they can dream big!
